“Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most.” Ozzy Osbourne

Tool is coming back to NZ, and I couldn’t be more stoked. The last time I saw them was back before the world went a bit sideways with Covid.

This time, though, it’s extra special — I get to go with Piper, my youngest, who’s a huge fan.

There’s something pretty special about sharing the experience of seeing a band like Tool across generations. The same energy and joy they gave me when I was younger, they’re now giving to her — it feels like it comes full circle.

Life is all about the moments, the memories, and making experiences that matter.

Flashing Tape - Waterproofing Sealant In A Roll

What is Flashing Tape?

Flashing tape is a self-adhesive waterproofing membrane typically used in construction, manufactured in a wide range of widths, supplied in a roll with an easy to apply adhesive backing. Once applied, it creates a durable barrier that prevents water, air, and moisture from seeping into joints, seams, or penetrations.

Can be used to replace traditional lead flashings, can be painted to match any existing colour scheme and sticks to almost anything, including metal, timber, glass, plastic, masonry and aluminium.

Made with a number of different backings with bitumen and butyl being the most
common.

How Does It Work?

Adhesion: The butyl or asphalt adhesive layer bonds tightly to surfaces like wood, concrete, brick, or metal.

Sealing: It creates a continuous waterproof layer over holes, gaps and joints - this seal is airtight

Flexibility: Flashing tape stretches slightly and accommodates building movement, temperature expansion, and contraction.

Common Applications

Window & Door Penetrations: Applied around windows and door frames before installation to seal against leaks

Roofing - New: Used at valleys, eaves, skylights, chimneys and roof penetrations to stop water ingress.

Roofing - Existing: Rust repairs, covering fastener holes, sealing seams and joints.
Repair concrete tiles, seal around chimneys and flues, it is the perfect seam sealer for caravans, shipping containers and cool stores.

Decks & Joists: Protects wooden deck joists from water damage and rot.

One of the best things about my job is the random queries and problems customers have that need solving. Sometimes we don’t have a ready-to-go answer, but we have fun stumbling on a solution that works.
