H Class Dust Management

What is H Class Dust?

H Class (high risk) dust includes dust containing carcinogenic or pathogenic particles as well as mould spores, asbestos, mineral fibres, bitumen and artificial mineral fibres such as glass wool.

This type of dust presents a high risk to any operator as the exposure limit for H-Class dust is >0.1mg/㎥.

This dust class requires a dust extractor that catches 99.995% of the dust with a grain size under one micron.

One dust particle to look out for is Silica. Silica is a natural substance found in concrete, bricks, rocks, stone (including artificial or engineered stone found in composite kitchen benchtops), sand and clay. RCS dust is created when materials containing silica are cut, ground, drilled, sanded, polished or otherwise disturbed.

Workers that are exposed to this dust can develop Silicosis, Lung Cancer or Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

H Class vacuum cleaner is the legal requirement when working with high-risk, non-explosive, hazardous dusts and materials, including asbestos. By investing in the correct extractor and or Vacuum, you can eliminate the risk to yourself and your co-workers.
