Green Silicon Carbide Precision Grinding Wheel
205mm x 25mm - Stepped Multi Bore Included to fit most machines.
Green silicon carbide is an incredibly hard and sharp synthetic abrasive produced from silica sand and petroleum coke at high temperatures, creating an abrasive that is close to diamonds on the Mohs scale.
The Green silicon carbide wheels are designed for carbide, ceramics, glass, and non-ferrous metals where precision and cool, clean cutting are vital.
They’re less suited for general steel grinding as they can cause rapid wear, they have a brittle fast wearing grain and are comparably more expensive than grey and white wheels.
Key Features:
Green Silicon Carbide (SiC): A extremely hard. friable abrasive that self sharpens as it grinds, delivering consistently smooth and very low heat cutting.
Cutting Action: Fast, aggressive cutting, but not as tough as aluminium oxide wheels.
Surface Finish: Produces clean, precise edges and smooth surfaces, especially on very hard or brittle materials.
Reduced Heat Buildup: Runs cooler than many alternatives because of its friability, reducing risk of burning delicate materials.
Fine Grit (typically 60, 80, 120): Offers a balance between material removal and surface finish, making it ideal for everyday use in workshops.
Extra Fine (220): Designed for precision finishing or fine grinding of hard or brittle materials.
Applications:
Carbide Tools: Sharpening and finishing tungsten carbide inserts, cutting tools, drill bits, and end mills.
Ceramics & Glass: Precision grinding of glass edges, ceramics, porcelain, and quartz.
Stone & Concrete: Cutting, shaping, and surface finishing on stone, marble, and granite.
Can also be used on some hard plastics and composite materials.
Max RPM: 3600
Max M/S: 38
Multi Bore
Includes a full multi bore bush set (12.7, 15.8, 19.05, 22.0, 25.4, 31.75)mm
Dressing Sticks
As you grind the wheel gets loaded or loses its sharpness - using a dressing stick exposes fresh sharp grain, restoring the cutting edge.
